Renovations 2008

OK so we've been keeping ourselves busy by pretending we know how to renovate... by ourselves. We've managed to transform the whole inside of the house, new floors, new paint, we've removed almost all the stucco on the ceilings and even new doors. Here are some pictures for those of you who have been here before. For those of you whom haven't, it's not as easy as those home improvement shows, they sugar coat them big time. I'll add more pics as they come! We're hoping to list this place sometime next year and buy a house of our own.

That's why I love you

So Ryan is on the night shift and I think it may be a permanent fixture now because he loves it. It also helps after school because he'll be home and on snow days it'll be a god sent. Usually he gets home around 3 am and I roll out of bed around 3:30 or 4 am to go and start my day. Every now and then Ryan will leave me a little note or something to let me know how he feels and it helps me to have a better day. Our 1 year anniversary was on August 23 and he bought me 12 beautiful roses. Now, almost a week later they are starting to look frail and decrepit. The other morning before I left to go to work out on the kitchen table Ryan had arranged petals from one of the roses to say I LOVE YOU. Well, almost in tears from the surprise I managed to get a picture. Thank you baby!!! These little things you do that may seem so insignificant to you mean all the world to me and that's why Ilove you!!. Another time he spelt it out in pennies on the bed for me. Hun you are the sweetest most amazing man in the world.

Don't ever complain about YOUR daughter's hair!!

I always hear about people complain about having to brush or style their daughter's hair. Well see what I have to deal with on a daily basis?!!*@! This is pretty much it's normal state. See in the beginning she had little to no hair, up until she was almost 3. Then puff. I can't even explain what happened, the Jackson 5 arrived on her head pretty much the next day. So being white and all, and having virtually no experience with "black hair" this is what I've been left to deal with. I can do a pony tail no problem, or even splurge sometimes and get it braided for about $100.00, but who has money coming out of their ass???? Certainly not me. So my girlfriend from Tim's just came back form Toronto and she knew of my hair woes, she brought me back a hot comb for Kayla's hair. Although it takes many hours and a lot of screaming, ( on both our parts) I am able to tame the wild beast.

She is not happy in this picture but doesn't she look great???? Love you Kayla, and hopefully someday your hair will settle down. You and your hair will always be beautiful to me!!

The marshmallow contest

So we thought it would be fun to see who would be able to stuff the most marshmallow into our mouths at one time. Ej started the fiasco and held the record of 12 at first. Well that just opened a can of worms because me being a woman, and one with a big mouth (I can take my whole fist) and also fighting that I had the best gag reflex, I began jamming them into my mouth. Well I did beat Ej, but only by one. After us the kids all tried and my brother actually has the proof of those, then he took on the challenge, failing miserably I must add. We then convinced mom to join on on the gagging. I took the prize picture of that too..... on Chris's camera. Ryan, whom I thought would take the lead only made it to 12, mom 10, Kimmy, who can't stomach a whole lot these days made it to 6 I think, more as a joke than anything, Glenn 9, Kayla 8 and Sammy 6.

Then Ej had to take it one step further and try to beat me. HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA, good luck with that. I'm always up for a challenge. Try as you might but you will never beat me. I got to 14 and almost puked my ever loving face off.... hence the beautiful picture. So any WHO, just thought I'd let you all in on that little piece of news. Ta ta for now!!

Plans are in motion

So when I got home today I called the guy whom we want to DJ our reception. We got him booked at it is only going to cost $500.00 for 6 hours. I'm very impressed with that. He's requested all the songs we want and our family wants to be written on a sheet for reference to him. We also will be doing the garter and havong the first dance and stuff. Ryan was a little confused at first because he thought it was just going to be music and I was like "duh" we have to have our first dance and stuff. Craig is also going to play the dvd of the wedding which I think I'm going to ask Alicia ( a friend of ours) dad if he can put together a dvd of us from the start. Ryan as a baby and myself until we met, then the wedding and something for the end. Thought maybe us holding hands walking on the beach into the sunset, to symbolize forever. I dunno, Ryan thinks I'm going a bit over board with this, but hell I've spent thousands less than my mom, and this is her third..... my first and last. So the reception will be May 9th, 2009 at Lake Loon from 7 pm to 1am. I'll get back with further detail when they are available.

Ta ta for now :)

Our August trip to New Brunswick

Long time no talk. We were away for a bit and laziness kicked in on my part but I'm here now to get you back up to date. So we went to New Brunswick to my family reunion and Ryan got to meet half of my extended family. ( what he can remember anyway, booze go down well at the camp) So we made the trip up on Thursday afternoon and arrived just before midnight.... many unnecessary pit stops along the way ( 9 and 7 year old bladders) First nite we were able to stay inside the camp and took up space in Aunt Jane and Uncle Gerry's bed. The next morning the men,( mom and Mike were already there) made their way down to the lake, which had taken a big chunk out of the yard because of all the rain the week before. Well that was it, Ryan got the fever for fishing and he was off. The kids were able to bring up their bikes this year and were anxiously awaiting the arrival of their cousin Samantha so they could all play. I stayed back to clean up the camp and supervise. My brother Chris and his son Devin arrived later that evening along with my aunt and uncle, and my cousin Mike and his son Jessie. The weekend went off without a hitch. Saturday we all made our way to the wharf for the dwindling reunion. Not too many people made it up this year but it was still a blast. Ryan and the kids went tubing and I stayed back to get loaded. We all ate like pigs, which is the Kennedy thing to do and then came back home to the camp for a few good hours off asshole (mom you know who you are) Sunday was the day that Ryan caught his fish, a 20 3/4 inches of pure pickerel. He was hooked himself more after that, but I was glad he settled in well.On Monday my other cousin Andy and his beautiful daughters arrived form Ontario. We regrettably left that afternoon and make our way to moncton to stay in a hotel and to wash our clothes. we had every intention on going to magic mountain on Tuesday but it rained everyday and we decided to chance it on Wednesday instead. So Tuesday we stayed on another hotel and had to call the front desk to come and kill the gigantic spider that make it's way into our roomI can't actually say who had more of a fit, Ryan or myself but after nearly peeing himself the maintenance guy came to our rescue, (he almost shit his pants when he saw it too)So magic mountain here we came on Wednesday. It was freezing and windy but we managed to say for 5 hours. Later that afternoon we went to my friend's camp in Northport, just outside of pugwash. What a breath of fresh air that was. Quiet, relaxing, the kids were occupied with their son, so we had some one on one conversation with adults and no screaming. Thursday we came back home regret ably, but man oh man what a trip. Exhausted, filthy, worn out........ a few words to describe my demeanour........ but always worth it!!!!

My handsome boy

On September 20, 1998 my handsome and first child was born. Glenn Steward Rixon- Jefferies was born at 12:36 am on a Sunday morning. He came after and exhausting 3 days of labour, and endless hours of pain and pushing.... was it all worth it??? Hell yeah. He was a quiet gorgeous little man from the day he was born. Craved attention, very curious, big bright brown eyes would follow all sounds throughout the room. Now, on the other hand, he's loud, full of himself, active, still curious, and chatty....( I don't know where he gets that from) Glenn has been and always will be a handful and that sometimes exhausts me, but every night I get a hug and a kiss and a quiet "I love you" and it makes it all worth while. Hopefully soon I will be able to download some baby pictures of him so I can share with you how beautiful he was and still is.
